AVS S-Series (AVS S5, S4, S3) car alarms

I have lost or damaged both my remotes. How do I start the car?

Getting the car started

You can start the car by using PIN code override for emergency disarm. These instructions are included on your PIN code card and in the owners manual.  Please note you will need the PIN code for this procedure.

Purchasing new remotes

New remote/s can be coded in to your AVS car alarm. You can purchase new remotes through*:

  1. Your local AVS dealer. Take the car into your AVS dealer, or, in some areas, a mobile service is available (charges will apply). Please call your AVS dealer first.
  2. You can buy AVS remotes online.

* Please note that if your AVS S-Series car alarm is older than around September 2006 and you have lost both remotes your AVS car alarm will need to be removed by your AVS installer and sent to us for resetting before new remotes can be coded in. Additional charges may apply.

If you do not know your PIN code

Please contact your AVS installer or local AVS dealer. Your AVS car alarm will need to be reset before new remotes can be coded in. Charges will apply.

My car alarm chirps for a few seconds when I arm it instead of the usual one chirp?

A door, bonnet or boot is open. Disarm your AVS car alarm, correct the problem and start again.

I get four chirps when I disarm the car alarm instead of the usual two chirps?

Your AVS car alarm has been triggered while you were away from the vehicle. The car alarm will chirp four times the first time you disarm it after an activation.

AVS car alarms have a past alarm trigger memory which records what triggered the last 10 activations. If you need to know what has triggered the car alarm contact your AVS installer or your local AVS dealer who will be able to get this information from the car alarm’s memory.

I disarmed my car alarm a few minutes ago but now it is armed again?

The auto re-arm and re-lock feature has been turned on. This feature will re-arm your AVS car alarm and re-lock the doors (if central locking has been connected) if it is disarmed and no door opened within 60 seconds. It can be turned off by your AVS installer or your local AVS dealer.

I have lost the arming/disarming chirps. How do I get them back?

Is the siren turned on?

Your AVS data battery back-up siren can be turned off with the siren key. The first step is to make sure the siren is turned on (especially if your car has recently been in for a service or similar). Check this by pressing the panic button (the right button on the torch remote or the horn symbol on the waterproof remote). If this siren is turned on it will now sound. Turn it off by pushing the button again.

If the siren does not sound turn it back on again with the key which will return the chirps to normal. See the owners manual for more details.

How to turn the chirps back on if the siren is turned on:

If ths siren is on but you still do not have any arming/disarming chirps it is likely they have been accidentally turned off via the programming features on your AVS car alarm. To return it to normal:

  1. Disarm your AVS car alarm and enter the car.
  2. Close all doors then turn the ignition on.
  3. On the torch remote press the left button once. On the waterproof remote press the boot release button once. The siren will chirp once on the AVS S5 and S4 car alarm.
  4. Turn the ignition off.

I have the torch remote and now the car alarm arms on the bottom button but disarms from the left button?

A programming feature has been accidentally turned on. To return it to normal:

  1. Disarm your AVS car alarm and enter the car.
  2. Close all doors then turn the ignition on.
  3. Press the left button 19 times (the siren will chirp once each push on the AVS S5 and S4 car alarm).
  4. Turn the ignition off.

I have the torch remote and now the car alarm no longer arms/disarms from the bottom button but if I push the panic button (right button) and then push the right button again it disarms?

  2. Leave the driver’s door open then turn the ignition on.
  3. Press the left button once (the siren will chirp once on the AVS S5 and S4 car alarm).
  4. Turn the ignition off.
