My car alarm chirps for three seconds when I arm the system instead of the usual one chirp?

Your AVS car alarm is warning you that a door is open. Disarm the car alarm, correct the problem and start again.

I get four chirps/indicator flashes when I disarm the car alarm instead of the usual two chirps/indicator flashes?

The auto re-arm and re-lock feature has been turned on. This feature will re-arm your AVS car alarm and re-lock the doors (if central locking has been connected) if it is disarmed and no door opened within 60 seconds. It can be turned off by your AVS installer or your local AVS dealer.

The remote still locks/unlocks the doors but the car alarm doesn’t work?

Your AVS car alarm has been put in to valet mode which will stop the alarm arming (it is useful if your vehicle is being serviced or repaired. It will allow five engine starts before returning to normal operation.
